Description

Main Purpose of the Role:

The Senior Mine Exploration Geologist will work with the Exploration Manager to execute the exploration program at Premium Resources’ Selebi Mines Project. The primary responsibilities are ensuring health and safety protocols are followed; supervising and mentoring a team of geologists; managing, supervising and monitoring an underground drill and surface drill programs, tracking drillholes to ensure they are on target, and ensuring accuracy of databases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attending and participating in weekly Safety meetings.
  • Workplace visits to work site both underground and on surface.
  • Oversee drill safety and report any variances.
  • Monitor ongoing LithoGeoChem program sampling of high-grade metamorphic Archean terrane.
  • Review assay results from the drill programs, Confirmation of QAQC status.
  • Import geological and geotechnical data into Fusion.
  • Import drillhole data into Datamine and make geological interpretations.
  • Assist in the interpretations of 3D geology, grade distributions and structures.
  • Oversee and mentor core loggers to ensure that core is consistently logged and QAQC protocols are followed.
  • Assist with completion of daily, weekly, and monthly drill production reports.
  • Oversee Geophysical BHEM and Surface EM Team.
  • Assist in budgeting and scheduling.
  • Interact with distributors/suppliers as needed
  • Assist with procurement of field supplies and services (drill supplies, televiewer, geological and geophysical etc).
  • Manage subordinates’ key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Exploration Manager or any authorised officer of the Company.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Sc. in Geology, M.Sc. will be considered an asset
  • Registration in a professional organization, familiarity with NI 43-101
  • 20 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior role
  • 5 years of underground experience
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment involving active drilling projects and integrating structure, geology and geophysical interpretations for targeting purposes.
  • Experience with deep hole drilling techniques, wedging/directional drilling with a background understanding of downhole gyro, borehole EM surveys.
  • Experience working in a magmatic nickel copper sulphide environment will be considered a strong asset.

Competencies:

  • Fluent in English with excellent report writing skills
  • Familiarity with DataMine Studio, Fusion, DHLogger Microsoft Office Suite and ARCGIS software.
  • Strong background involving structural logging of oriented drill core and incorporation of televiewer data into a 3D structural geological model will be considered an asset.
